Squash - My drive and My Passion
As a little child, I tried many different sports: Wushu, soccer, swimming, golf, tennis and finally, when at age eight, I picked up my first squash racquet. That was the start of a passion. This sport has been so impactful to me because it has taken me not just across so many cities in the US to play competitions, but across the world as well. Little side note: I kept up Wushu till I got a black belt in it!
Over the years, I’ve earned a highest player rating of 4.86 and have consistently ranked among the top players in the nation. My U.S. National rankings have included No. 2 in U11, No. 3 in U13, No. 15 in U15, No. 52 in U17, and most recently No. 79 in U19. Each category marks not just a number, but a chapter of growth, discipline, and resilience.
One of the proudest moments of my journey was representing the U.S. Junior Team at the British Open Squash Championships, where I finished 10th in 2019 in Birmingham. This is an experience that deepened my love for the game and the global community around it. That same drive carried me to a 2nd-place finish at the U.S. Junior Open and a championship win at the Cincinnati Junior Tournament in 2018. I’ve also competed at the U.S. Junior Nationals every year from 2018 through 2022, learning to perform under pressure while embracing every match as a chance to improve.
Today, I’m proud to serve as Team Captain for the HSC Girls’ Division I Texas Team, which I helped lead to first-place victories in 2023, 2024, and 2025. Alongside my athletic pursuits, I’ve been honored three times as a U.S. Squash Scholar-Athlete, a recognition that celebrates the balance between academic dedication and competitive excellence.
I suffered a serious foot injury and had to take a year and a half off. However even during this time off, I kept my focus on fitness and managed to maintain my skills. Squash has shaped not only how I compete, but how I lead, focus, and persevere. Needless to say these skills are applicable both on and off the court.
