In the summer of 2024, I had a unique opportunity to combine two things - travel and work experience. I was fortunate to land an internship at the offices of India Quotient in Bangalore. India Quotient is a leading venture capital fund in Bangalore. As a Junior Analyst Intern, I had the opportunity to step inside, shadow experienced VCs and participate firsthand in how investment decisions are made.

My work involved researching and analyzing market trends to evaluate the viability of emerging startups across multiple sectors. I learned to identify the patterns that distinguish sustainable ventures from short-lived ones. I also authored a comprehensive market and equity report on India’s booming wedding industry. This report enabled me to understand cultural shifts, economic factors, and investment opportunities shaping this multi-billion-dollar market segment.

Beyond research, I participated in founder calls, conducted competitor benchmarking, and summarized insights that helped inform investment discussions. This experience taught me how data, intuition, and cultural awareness come together in the art and science of venture investing.

Spending a summer in Bangalore also gave me an opportunity to truly immerse myself in the local culture. As much as investing is a quantitative exercise, understanding culture was equally critical.

This internship not only deepened my understanding of how ideas evolve into businesses, but how thoughtful capital can support and scale innovation.

My internship at the University of Texas at Dallas was a deep dive into the intersection of technology, design, and cybersecurity, working under the Department of Computer Science.

The project consisted of two major components.

In the first part, I began by analyzing consumer behavior patterns and translating those insights into actionable design improvements. I designed detailed mock-ups and a working prototype for a next-generation shopping app focused on enhancing user engagement through intuitive UX/UI design. This experience helped me understand how psychology and interface design come together to create seamless digital experiences.

The second part consisted of researching network vulnerabilities, ethical hacking frameworks, and penetration-testing tools such as Metasploit. This gave me an excellent insight into cybersecurity and through this, I learned how systems are both built and breached. My ultimate takeaway was that strong security design begins with anticipating human and technical weaknesses.

This internship not only strengthened my technical and analytical skills but also deepened my appreciation for how innovation and security must coexist.
